The AI on the Amstel meetup is a free monthly technical AI meetup that caters to engineers, product managers, and founders in AI. The meetups feature a panel of experts discussing AI-related technical challenges. The AI on the Amstel meetup is the largest monthly AI event in Amsterdam, and gets 200-300 people each month. 

The AI on the Amstel meetup was founded because Amsterdam did not have a high-quality monthly technical meetup for the AI community. Amsterdam is a growing AI hub, and the city needed a monthly meetup event to help build the AI community in the city. 

The founder/host of the meetup – Grant Easterbrook – moved to Amsterdam from New York City. Grant is a former AI founder and spent time in the tech community in New York and San Francisco. He saw the difference between the technical meetups available in top American tech hubs vs. what was available in Amsterdam at the time. He saw the gap, and decided to start organizing the AI on the Amstel meetup.
